Time to go Green!

I'm not Irish. Not even a little bit. However, the one-two punch of being a freckled redhead who grew up in Boston, this fact about me is often disbelieved or falls on deaf ears. "Oh, you must be Irish; just look at you!"

In response, because I am just that kind of girl, I've always had something of a resentment on St. Patrick's Day. The one day a year my suspicious heritage actually comes up in casual conversation.
Truth be told, and don't let this get out, but most of the Irish folk I know are brunettes.

Me, I'm Scandinavian. Swedish, Danish, that kind of thing. Apparently, the Irish do not have a complete monopoly on the world's redheads.
Anywho, this really isn't a blog about my hair color, as fascinating a subject as it might be. It often comes to my attention that I take myself a bit too seriously. I'm a passionate person, and as such, my opinions are rarely, well, quiet. If I'm unsure that you get the weight of my feelings, I might just beat you over the head with it until our light convo about film or whatever has turned into a battlefield.
St. Patrick's Day has always been one of my targets. I refused to wear green, and you wouldn't want to find out what would happen to you if you pinched me for it. I fought off merrymakers as they tried to suck me in to their revelry, my being an "Irish" girl and all. I was the Scrooge of St. Patrick's Day.
This year, I can accept that, over the years, I haven't proven anything to anyone with my anti-St. Patrick's Day sentiment. In light of my new self-awareness, I will not be going out on the town and drinking green beer, but rather will share some of my favorite green things with you. Enjoy!

1. Still one of my favorite YouTubes ever.

2.Don't make him angry...
3. Mmmm... wasabi... *drool*
4. Spring!
5. Green chile from Santiago's
6. Going green.
7. Broccoli!
8. The best basketball team EVER.
9. Grrl power
10. Last but certainly not least, The Green!
So, for the first time, I will wish everyone a happy St. Paddy's Day. Have fun, and don't be a rookie out there.

I've never really understood this holiday anyway, but maybe that's because I'm not Irish. Nice blog.

I have had sort of a general hostility towards St. Pat's as well, even though I do like the tradition of saints.

Saint Patrick isn't a canonized saint, but still is the patron of Ireland and paralegals, which I guess is good to know...
