Wow. My original blog was so whiny it annoyed even me. In lieu of that garbage, I bring you three of my favorite American Illusions...
1. That American families are happy and well-adjusted:
2. That nerdy girls aren't hot (REAL nerdy girls, not the ones in the movies that take off their glasses at the end, get a makeover, and conform like the dickens):

And, of course, Velma.
3. That vampires are nice and altruistic and cuddly. Whatever, "Twilight."
They just want to eat you.
Even the "good" ones.
They'll sometimes settle for your blood any way they can get it.
They're creepy, dangerous, horrifying, and yet still sexy. That's why they're COOL. Not because they're perfect and polite! Sheesh... It's also why we need bad-ass heroes to protect us from them.
...And sometimes to sleep with them.
